Game developer from Helix City who gains probability powers after Clara Vance's dark-matter machine explodes. His suit carries a tungsten W and an AI named F.R.I.E.N.D.

Trevor Matondo

A speedster from Earth-404 who meets Richard inside the Speed Force. Thinker-level mind, black-and-gold lightning, and a pocket dimension lab.

Eliza Nakamura

Kangae

Richard's neighbour and Helix City's first public post-dark-matter hero. Telepathy and telekinesis. The press called her Cerebra; she prefers Kangae.

Grace Cox

Overwatch

Richard's younger sister and mission control. Lives with a serious illness; later events complicate that fight with a second state called Trajectory.

Priya Okafor

Arachne

Student hero who generates organic spider silk. Grounds the younger team and travels with Trevor's group.

Damian Cross

Verdict

Ashfield lawyer by day, harsh vigilante by night. Operates in The Hollows and argues that some people already had their chance.

Clara Vance

Antagonist

Former executive who forced Richard to build a multiverse machine, then hunted him across worlds in powered armour.

Rowan Ellery

The diner

Owner of Ellery Diner. The novel opens with Richard crashing through his roof and telling the origin story over the wreckage.
